Kick your fruit platter up a notch with this luscious, creamy dip.

Marshmallow Fruit Dip served with green grapes, strawberries, mandarin oranges, and apple slices.

At most holiday parties I’ve been to, there’s a wide array of savory appetizers to choose from. My loved ones savor their smoky pigs in a blanket, spicy salsa with tortilla chips, and, of course, a classy charcuterie board with some cheeses that I can’t even name. But if I really want my appetizer to stand out on the table, I make something sweet and colorful. That’s where a rainbow fruit platter comes into play, with a little bowl of luscious marshmallow fruit dip.

As a simple but rich blend of cream cheese and marshmallow creme, this light and airy dip is ideal for any kind of fruit. Berries, oranges, pears, apples, and even tropical fruits like starfruit or pineapple go beautifully with this spread. My favorite aspect of it is how customizable it is. Sure, this classic vanilla version is iconic and delightful for all kinds of fruits. But if you add a teaspoon of cinnamon or a tablespoon of cocoa powder, you can completely transform it.

Want to try my pumpkin spice version? Mix your marshmallow fruit dip with one teaspoon of cinnamon, half a teaspoon each of nutmeg and ginger, and a quarter teaspoon of cloves. Alongside a selection of apples and berries, this warmly spiced dip is especially blissful during the winter holidays. So, rest assured—this marshmallow fruit dip is simple but incredibly dynamic.

Ingredients for Marshmallow Fruit Dip: cream cheese, marshmallow creme, vanilla extract, strawberries, green grapes, and tangerines.

How is marshmallow creme made?

There was a time when I thought that marshmallows had to come in the form of bite-sized pillows, made with gelatin to hold their shape. But then I was introduced to marshmallow creme—also known as marshmallow fluff. This sweet and smooth condiment is typically crafted by whipping egg whites with a hot sugar syrup until the mixture is light, airy, and stiff. It’s kind of like a meringue frosting, but instead it’s used on peanut butter fluff sandwiches or in velvety dip recipes like this one.

How do I store leftovers?

Store leftover dip separately from the fruit, in an airtight container. Refrigerate it for 4-5 days and then serve it cold or at room temperature. I don’t suggest freezing it, as this will ruin its velvety texture.

Similar recipes to try

If you’re craving a creamy dip that’s savory instead of sweet, I have some yummy options for you. Greek Yogurt Dip, for instance, is refreshingly herbaceous and best enjoyed with veggie sticks and pita bread or crackers. If you’d like a richer, more garlicky flavor, then try Cottage Cheese Dip. Then, of course, no savory appetizer spread would be complete without Keto Buffalo Chicken Dip. With tender shredded chicken in a spicy sauce, it has more protein and more heat, too. Whether you go sweet or savory, your appetizer dips can start your party off on the right foot.
