Whip up this fluffy, flavorful dip that goes great with a wide array of finger foods.

For a while, I thought that Greek yogurt was reserved for sweet treats and breakfast parfaits, but when this savory recipe entered my world, I was mind-blown. So many new possibilities entered my snack-prep routine, because although it’s unique, Greek yogurt dip can be dished out with a wide variety of finger foods.

Whipped to perfection with fresh herbs, garlic, onion, and a hint of citrus, this dip can be both comforting and refreshing. In my opinion, it’s most enjoyable in the summertime at picnics with veggie sticks and crackers, but you can make it for winter holiday parties too, as a little appetizer with homemade bread. However you choose to serve it, this zesty dip can please a crowd.

What makes Greek yogurt such a special base for this dip? Well, unlike regular yogurt, Greek yogurt is strained of its liquid so that it becomes thick and creamy instead of thin and runny. It also has more protein, which is why I consider it to be one of the most satisfying snacks out there.

Greek yogurt dip vs. tzatziki

While these two dips share the same Greek yogurt base, there are some distinct differences in the added flavors. Mainly, tzatziki is different because it usually only includes fresh dill, whereas this Greek yogurt dip includes both dill and parsley for more fragrant and earthy undertones. Tzatziki also doesn’t typically include onion powder, but it does include shredded cucumber. You’d be surprised by how some small tastes and aromas can go a long way!

How do I store leftovers?

Cover your bowl with plastic wrap, or transfer the Greek yogurt dip to an airtight container and then refrigerate it for up to 4 days. I don’t suggest freezing it, since this will ruin the consistency.

Similar recipes to try

If you’re like me and you like to experiment in the kitchen, then perhaps you’d enjoy the many different ways Greek yogurt can be transformed. For instance, Greek Yogurt Tartar Sauce is perfect for a yummy fish fry or Easy Baked Cod Recipe. I also favor Cottage Cheese Dip, which is rich and creamy but without as many herbs. But if you need a plant-based dip that evokes similar herbaceous flavors, try Vegan Tzatziki—a mini revolution in classic Greek cuisine.
