The only thing better than a platter of fresh fruit is when it’s served with a creamy, sweet, delectable Fruit Dip!

There’s nothing I love more than seeing a buffet table with a bunch of different dips. Give me an assortment of chips and fresh vegetables, and I’m one happy girl. That is—until I spy the platter of fresh fruit and a bowl of delightful fruit dip. You can bet that’s how I’m going to start and end my meal.
There’s no rule for making a dip for fruit. Some people use yogurt while others don’t. One thing that many creamy fruit dips have in common is two ingredients—Marshmallow Fluff and softened cream cheese. So, what’s the benefit of adding Greek yogurt to the dip? Personally, I think it gives it just the right bit of tang and makes for a smoother, creamier dip. Instead of vanilla Greek yogurt, you can also use a flavored regular yogurt to give your dip a fruitier taste.
We’ve added a bit of maraschino cherry juice to the recipe to add a little extra flavor, but you can omit it just as easily. There are plenty of ways to switch up the flavor in this dip. I like to substitute almond extract for vanilla, which adds a nice, subtle almond taste.
Go dairy-free with this recipe by substituting your favorite plant-based cream cheese and yogurt. I’ve made it that way many times, and you’d be surprised at how few people notice the difference. Whip in a tablespoon of your favorite nut butter or jam to enhance the flavor. Mix in some cinnamon and honey for the ideal festive fall flavoring. And, if you love chocolate as much as I do, add two tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to make a deliciously rich chocolate dip. I sometimes add some shredded coconut on top for a festive appearance and a bit of texture.
*One final tip: make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature, as it has to be very soft before mixing if you want to get the perfect, smooth consistency!

How to make the perfect fruit dip platter
While any fruit you like will go great with fruit dip, if you are planning to serve this on a buffet table, you want to make a statement. I find that alternating sections of fruit in various colors really stands out, such as green grapes, bright red strawberries, apple slices, jumbo blueberries, pineapple chunks, red grapes, orange cantaloupe, and green honeydew melon. Watermelon, star fruit, and mango spears are other great options. Other fun things to add include vanilla wafer cookies, graham crackers, and chunks of pound cake. You might even put out a bowl of chocolate sauce with the fruit dip for an added touch of goodness.

How do I store leftovers?
Store leftover fruit dip in the serving bowl, tightly covered with plastic wrap, or in an airtight container for up to 5 days. It is best consumed within 2 days for maximum taste and consistency. Stir before each serving. I don’t recommend freezing this dip.
