Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 medium shallot thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Red pepper flakes to taste, optional

Instructions

  • Trim the ends off the green beans.
  • Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic; cook for 30 seconds until they become fragrant. Add the green beans, toss well, and cover the pan.
  • Sauté for 6-8 minutes until beans are tender-crisp, uncovering occasionally to stir and prevent burning the garlic.
  • Pour in the soy sauce and optional honey; stir to coat the beans evenly; cook for another 1 minute. Taste and adjust soy sauce or honey if needed.
  • Finally, sprinkle the sesame seeds and red pepper flakes (if using) over the beans and serve hot.
